Quarry Bay ESF school?
HI All- our kids (americans, yr2 and yr4) were just accepted into the Quarry Bay ESF school. We're glad to be in the ESF school, but its fairly far from my husband's office in Pokfulam. Does anyone have experience with the Quarry Bay, North Point areas? Commute times to Pokfulam? Family life? etc?
There is a direct minibus from Quarry Bay to Cyberport (Pok Fu Lam) # 69 and it takes no more than 30 mins. Maybe a bit longer during rush hour.
Also I was just checking the school bus service and they seem to pick up pretty much all over HK
Places you can consider living - Happy Valley, Tai Tam, Shouson Hill
You could also consider living in Pok Fu Lam. Perhaps even have the kids waitl isted at Kennedy school which is in Pok Fu Lam.
You could consider renting in Taikoo Shing - fairly nice area & convenient.
I think it's usually better for the kids to have the shorter commute.
Taikoo shing is quite old, and it has not got many facilities. There are some new complexes like Les Saisons and Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho area which is just one MTR station away from Taikoo Shing, so they are also convienent. These new complexes have many facilities like clubhouses, swimming pools, children playgrounds, etc. I think it's worth to take a look at them for a comparison.
Just out of curiosity, don't most, if not all, of the students have to live in the catchment area in order to go to that particular ESF school?
I see that the ESF Quarry Bay bus services covers as far as the western part of Hong Kong which is covered by a different ESF school. Is there a reason for that?

Quarry Bay caters for students who have moved location out of the QBS school zone by providing school buses as far over as Mid-Levels. I don't think they take overflow from other schools per-say but they do seem to have a very well organised school bus system.
