The first secondary school sponsored by YMCA, YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College (YHKCC) was established in 2003 and is the only English-medium school in the Islands District of Hong Kong. As an international school, it is estimated that over 70% of the student body are international students, coming from over 40 different countries. These students are taught by a set of highly qualified staff, 40% of whom possess master’s qualifications.
Being a multicultural school, YHKCC has integrated a UK based curriculum alongside the Hong Kong based New Secondary School curriculum and now provides its students with the option of choosing a stream in Form 5. While the lower years follow a programme which prepares them for the IGCSEs, the upper years’ programme could lead either to the HKDSE or the GCE A levels depending on the stream they choose.
