The first independent and non-profit through train school in Hong Kong, Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau was established in 2002 with the intention of developing students holistically within a bilingual environment. The school provides education for students beginning with Year 1 and ending with Year 11. While the lower school follows a curriculum designed for Hong Kong students and based on the Key Stages, the senior years' curriculum prepares them for the IGCSE's, followed by the IB Diploma Program.
As a bilingual school, CKY places emphasis on the learning of both English and Chinese. The school has a total of 1641 students alongside 165 teaching staff and an average class size of 28 students. These students are offered a range of extracurricular activities including music, art and sports.
